PITTSBURGH¯Pitt junior goalkeeper Morie Kephart recently finished an excellent season after leading the nation in save percentage. Starting in 14 games, Kephart only yielded only seven goals while playing 1358 minutes in the net. She posted a .926 save percentage.
Along with leading the nation in save percentage, Kephart established numerous school records including the lowest goals against average in a season (.47), most shutouts in a season (8), least goals against in a season (7), most career shutouts (13), least career goals against average (1.02) and least career goals against (39).
Playing a key role in Kephart’s records is Pitt’s backfield which helped yield just 11 goals on the year, ranking tied for first in the Big East. The backfield, consisting of junior Kat Weiler, junior Rebecca Fraser, senior Maura Caslin, sophomore Brittany Pfaff and freshman Abby Baldys were important in the Panthers’ defensive success.
The Pitt Women’s Soccer team ended the season with a 1-0 shutout victory over Connecticut, finishing the season with a record of 8-5-5.
