Pitt Signs Women's Soccer Player to National Letter of Intent 3/1/1997
PITTSBURGH -- University of Pittsburgh Women's Soccer Coach Roland Sturk has announced that Charity Kriley (Boise, Id./Meridian H.S.) has signed a national letter-of-intent to enroll at Pitt next fall. Kriley earned four letters in soccer at Meridian, and was named her team's Most Valuable Player in both 1995 and 1996. An Olympic Development Program (ODP) player for four years, she is also a three-time All-Metro soccer selection and will spend this summer playing soccer in Europe. Kriley's club team, Les Bois, has won numerous state championships. An excellent student, Kriley is first in her class with a 4.0 grade-point average. She is also a two- year basketball letterwinner, and was selected to Meridian's basketball Hall of Fame. "We're happy to have Charity join our team," said Sturk. "She's a very athletic player. She was a state ODP player and was close to making the West Regional team. She will enhance our team in the midfield, especially with her speed and athletic ability. "I think we have improved our defense. She will gives us flexibility and depth in the midfield." Kriley, the fourth women's soccer player to sign a letter-of-intent with Pitt, joins another Boise, Idaho native, Tammy Hirahara (Centennial H.S.) as well as earlier Pitt signees Nicole Bashor (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East H.S.) and Jennifer Beiter (Exton, Pa./Bishop Shanahan H.S.).
