PITTSBURGH –University of Pittsburgh women’s soccer coach Sue-Moy Chin announced the hiring of Lindsey Jones Friday as an assistant coach with the program. Jones joins both Chin and assistant Monica Gerardo on the Pittsburgh coaching staff. “We are extremely excited to add a coach of Lindsey’s stature to our staff,” said Pittsburgh Head Coach Sue-Moy Chin who coached Jones while she served as an assistant at Notre Dame. “I’ve known Lindsey for a long time having coached her for two years. She is a great person and a great soccer player who has played at a very high level. Lindsey will bring a lot of passion and enthusiasm to our coaching staff and program.” Jones spent the previous year in New South Wales, Australia where she coached in both the Paul Wade National Soccer School and the Northern NSW Soccer Federation coaching program. She also competed for the Northern NSW Pride of the WNSL. She helped lead Notre Dame to a national runner-up finish in 1999 and the national semifinals in 2000 and concluded her career with two goals, 19 assists and made 70 starts in 96 games played. As a freshman in 1998, she earned unanimous All-Big East Rookie Team honors. Pittsburgh finished its 2004 season with a 6-10-1 overall record and 2-7-1 Big East record.
