PITTSBURGH--The Pitt women's soccer team concluded its spring training schedule with a 3-1 victory over the Pitt Alumni Team on Sunday at Ambrose Urbanic Field at the Petersen Sports Complex.
Twenty former Pitt women's soccer players returned to campus for the game. Among the 20 alumni players expected to attend include Laura Berbert, Katie Caslin, Maura Caslin, Alex Jaffe, Molly Griganavicius, Ashley Habbel, Jennifer Kritch, Courtney Wrightson, Carli Brill, Aimee Romasco, Rachel Vecchio, Sara Gutting, Stephanie Davis, Liz Carroll, Katelyn Ruhe, Katheryn Kunugi, Morie Kephart, Jacqueline Reuter, Maura Romano and Christina Nicassio.
"It was a great day for both our staff and our players to connect with our former players," Pitt women's soccer coach Greg Miller said. "The turnout was great and we hope to continue the tradition of bringing them back. We had fun and yet were still able to finish working on some areas of concentration that we addressed at the beginning of the spring."
"Our group made some real strides forward in many ways this spring, paving the way for our 12 freshmen, set to join us in June."
Pitt players will report back to campus this summer to begin preparations for the 2013 regular season. The 2013 season will be Miller's second season as Pitt's head coach. Pitt returns nine starters and 12 letterwinners from a 7-10-2 team. In addition, Pitt adds a 12-member recruiting class. Pitt will enter Atlantic Coast Conference competition next season.
