PITTSBURGH--Pitt's inaugural Atlantic Coast Conference women's soccer season will feature eight matches against opponents who ranked among the nation's top-25 teams last year, head coach Greg Miller announced on Friday. Pitt's 2013 women's soccer schedule also includes nine home games at Ambrose-Urbanic Field at the Petersen Sports Complex and 11 matches which will be played in the Pittsburgh area.

Pitt's eight top-25 opponents include defending national champion North Carolina (1), Florida State (4), Duke (8), Virginia (10), Notre Dame (13), Wake Forest (15), Maryland (16) and Big Ten champion Ohio State (23). In addition, two other 2013 opponents received votes in last year's final NSCAA poll: Virginia Tech and Boston College.

"The Atlantic Coast Conference is generally regarded as the nation's top collegiate soccer conference," Pitt coach Greg Miller said. "We are excited to be competing among several of the nation's elite programs."

Pitt plays its first ACC regular season match when it hosts Boston College on Thursday, Sept. 12 at Ambrose-Urbanic Field. Pitt will begin its 2013 campaign with an exhibition game at Kentucky on Friday, Aug. 16. It plays its first regular season game at Duquesne on Sunday, Aug. 25 and opens its home schedule against Bucknell on Friday, Aug. 30.

Home games to be played at Ambrose-Urbanic Field include Bucknell (Aug. 30), Central Michigan (Sept. 1), Toledo (Sept. 6), Boston College (Sept. 12), North Carolina State (Sept. 15), Virginia (Sept. 22), North Carolina (Sept. 26), Syracuse (Oct. 6) and Virginia Tech (Oct. 20).

Away matches include Duquesne (Aug. 25), Ohio State (Aug. 28), Robert Morris (Sept. 4), Clemson (Sept. 19), Notre Dame (Sept. 29), Miami (Oct. 10), Florida State (Oct. 13), Wake Forest (Oct. 24), Duke (Oct. 27) and Maryland (Oct. 31).

Pitt players will report back to campus this summer to begin preparations for the 2013 regular season. The team reports for preseason workouts on Tuesday, Aug. 6. NCAA mandated practices begin on Wednesday, Aug. 7. The 2013 season will be Miller's second as Pitt's head coach. Pitt returns nine starters and 12 letterwinners from a 7-10-2 team. In addition, Pitt adds a 12-member recruiting class.
