Women's Soccer Announces 2005 Schedule

5/10/2005

Panthers to play seven home games.

  • 2005 Schedule

PITTSBURGH— University of Pittsburgh women’s soccer coach Sue-Moy Chin announced the Panthers’ 2005 schedule on Monday.  The regular season starts with Pitt traveling to Huntington, W. Va. to play both Marshall and Jacksonville in the Marshall Tournament.  The Panthers begin Big East Conference play with a home game against their rival, West Virginia.

Pitt will play a total of 18 regular season games, including 11 Big East Conference games.  Pitt plays five consecutive home games from September 25th to October 9th, including contests against new Big East Conference members South Florida and Marquette.  Tough Big East road games at Villanova and at Connecticut, as well as a weekend trip to Boulder, Colo. to play in the Colorado Tournament, will also test the Panthers.  Pitt will not play defending Big East and National Champion Notre Dame this year.

The Panthers are coming off a 6-10-1 season in which they went 2-7-1 in the Big East.  The Panthers play their home games at Founders Field in Indianola, Pa.  The season opens with two exhibition games against Maryland-Baltimore County (August 19th) and Indiana (Pa.) (August 21st).
