ACC Releases Fall Olympic Sports Broadcast Schedule

Aug. 12, 2014

GREENSBORO , N.C. - Three University of Pittsburgh Olympic sports programs will make 12 appearances during the fall season on a platform of networks, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced today.

In total, the ACC will broadcast at least 121 events this year, surpassing the previous record of 101 from last season. All 121 events will appear on ESPN networks, including six on ESPNU and 115 on ESPN3. An additional 16 games will also be broadcast through regional sports networks (RSN), which will also be carried by ESPN3.

Pitt's volleyball team will be featured five times - four on ESPN3 and one once via RSN. Additionally, the men's soccer program (four times) and the women's soccer squad (three times) will also have games streamed on ESPN3.

Of the volleyball team's five national broadcasts, two will be held inside the friendly confines of Fitzgerald Field House. The Panthers' first national broadcast of the season will be at home against Boston College on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. ESPN returns to campus for a Friday night match between Pitt and Notre Dame on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.

When Pitt hits the road the following weekend fans will still be able to view both contests. ESPN3 will produce the contest at Georgia Tech on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m., while RSN has the rights to distribute the match at Clemson on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.

As the season winds down, Pitt will make its final appearance on ESPN in the second-to-last match of the campaign at Louisville, on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 4 p.m.

Two of the men's soccer broadcasts will be against clubs ranked in the preseason top-25, beginning with a trip to No. 22 North Carolina on Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

During a seven-game stretch late in the season, three of Pitt's contests will be on ESPN3, all starting at 7 p.m. In arguably its biggest home game of the season, Pitt hosts No. 3 Virginia, a Final Four participant from 2013, on Saturday Oct. 4. Ten days later, the Panthers welcome Howard for a weeknight affair on Tuesday, Oct. 14. ESPN will also showcase Pitt's final road game of the season at Duke on Oct. 24.

The women's soccer team will conclude its season with three ESPN appearances in the final five games, including the last two home dates of the year. After traveling to No. 4 North Carolina on Oct. 12 for a 1 p.m. game the Panthers return to campus for a three-game homestand. Pitt hosts Louisville on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. and three days later welcomes Clemson on Sunday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m., both of which will be on ESPN3.
