This is the first in a series on the Pitt women’s soccer team. Each player during the season will be featured.


Midfielder Alyssa Meier begins her redshirt junior season on the Pitt women’s soccer team. The Strongsville, Ohio native made the switch to midfield after playing the majority of her first two seasons in the backfield. The three-time Big East Academic All-Star has seen action in 39 matches, making 38 starts for the Panthers. We asked her several personal questions:


What is the best thing about playing on the Pitt women’s soccer team?

The team because they are my best friends.


Who has made the biggest impact on your soccer career?

My sister (who plays soccer at Virginia Tech) because she’s the hardest worker I know. Note: Pitt hosts Virginia Tech on October 20, 2013.


Who is your funniest teammate?

Caroline because she’s so witty.


If you had a theme song, what would it be?

Diva by Beyonce.


What do you like most about the city of Pittsburgh? Why?

It’s clean and there are a lot of things to do so you’re never bored.


What is your favorite thing to do in Pittsburgh? Why?

Going up the incline to Mount Washington because of the view.


Favorite thing to do on campus?

Go to Razzy Fresh.


Craziest thing that ever happened to you during a soccer practice?

I got kicked out.
