GETTING TO KNOW Riliegh McHugh
This is the second feature in a series on the Pitt women’s soccer team. Each player during the season will be featured.
Defender Riliegh McHugh begins her second season on the Pitt women’s soccer team after transferring to the Panthers from the University of Georgia. The Hersey, Pa. native made the switch to the backfield after playing the majority of last season at forward. Riliegh played all 19 games last year, making 12 starts. She scored two goals in her first season at Pitt. We asked her several personal questions:
Who has made the biggest impact in your soccer career? Why?
My father because he taught me how to play soccer and was my first coach.
Who is your funniest teammate?
Alyssa, queen of sass and attitude.
Where do you see yourself in 15 years from now?
Sitting courtside watching my NBA husband win a ring.
How many siblings do you have? Younger or older? Do they play soccer, too?
One younger sister. She will be a freshman at NJIT where she is on the soccer team!
What was your greatest moment in athletics?
Winning my high school’s first state championship and scoring my first collegiate goal.
If you could travel back in time, you would…?
Back to King Henry XVII and his rule. (I’m a huge history nerd.)
If you had a million dollars, how would you spend it?
I would give it to my parents because I can’t be trusted with money.
What jersey number do you wear and why?
33 because it was my dad’s collegiate and professional number. I have 33 in Roman numerals tattooed on my ribs.
