PITTSBURGH - The University of Pittsburgh women's soccer team will kick off its 2013 season when it travels to Lexington, Ky., for an 11 a.m. exhibition matchup with the Kentucky Wildcats on Friday, August 16. The game will serve as Pitt's lone exhibition of the 2013 season.
"We are anxious to play Kentucky," said head coach Greg Miller. "They are well coached and will present us with some athletic and soccer challenges similar to what we would see in the ACC. It is an opportunity for us to see how we measure up, try some different things and allow us to move some players in different spots."
Pitt returns nine starters and 11 letterwinners from a 7-10-2 team and adds a 12-member recruiting class. The Wildcats are coming off of a 14-8-1 season in 2012.
The Panthers open their regular season at Duquesne on Sunday, Aug. 25 and opens their home slate against Bucknell on Friday, Aug. 30.
Pitt's 2013 schedule includes nine home games at Ambrose Urbanic Field and 11 matches which will be played in the Pittsburgh area.
