BOWLING GREEN, Ohio- The University of Pittsburgh women’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Eastern Michigan Friday in the first game of the Bowling Green State Tournament.  The contest was Pittsburgh’s first of the season.

Eastern Michigan’s Jessica Hupe scored its first goal at the 19 minute mark and the momentum stayed with the Eagles. Pitt’s defense and goalie, Jamie Pelusi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton), were able to keep Eastern Michigan from scoring anymore in the half.

Pittsburgh started the second half strong and played well until a rain delay stopped play for one hour and 54 minutes.  When play resumed, Eastern Michigan went up 2-0 on Sara Schiffenbauer’s rebound goal at the 62nd minute.

The Pittsburgh offense was able to pressure Eastern Michigan and forced the Eagles to give up a corner kick.  Kristina Francois (Springfield, Va./Paul VI) took the corner kick and Corina Sebesta (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua) scored for Pittsburgh with less than three minutes left in the game.

Pittsburgh next plays host Bowling Green State at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
