PITTSBURGH--The Pitt women's soccer team will enter the third week of its 2012 season with a No. 9 ranking in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Northeast Region poll.
With a 4-1-0 record, Pitt is off to its best start to a season in three years. Pitt's current three-game win streak also marks the program's longest win streak since the Panthers opened the 2009 season with four straight wins. The last time Pitt began a season with a 4-1-0 record or better was in 2006 when it started 4-0-1.
This weekend, Pitt travels to Morgantown, W.Va. to compete in the WVU 90 Minute Classic. The Panthers play two nationally ranked teams in No. 12 Miami, Fla. on Friday, Aug. 31 (5 p.m.) and No. 3 ranked Penn State on Sunday, Sept. 2 (2:30 p.m.).
In addition, Pitt freshman midfielder Roosa Arvas was named the Big East Women's Soccer Rookie of the Week on Monday.
