LORETTO, Pa.-Saint Francis registered a 1-0 victory over the Pittsburgh women’s soccer team Sunday afternoon at Stokes Athletic Field. The loss drops Pittsburgh to 2-3-0 overall. Saint Francis improved to
3-2-0 overall.
Junior Cassie Taylor scored Saint Francis’ lone goal off a corner kick from two yards out in the 31st minute of the contest. Pittsburgh’s goalkeeper Jamie Pelusi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) finished the day with six saves.
Offensively, eight Panthers contributed to Pittsburgh’s 10 shots, while the Red Flash registered 12 shots on the day. Sara Gutting (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and Erin Hills (Burke, Va./James A. Robinson Secondary) each had two shots.
Pittsburgh is next in action against St. John’s Friday, 7 p.m. in Jamaica, N.Y.
