WASHINGTON, D.C. Lisa Schulte (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) scored her first career goal as the University of Pittsburgh snapped Georgetown University’s three game win streak with a 2-1 victory Friday at North Kehoe Field.  With the win, the Panthers improve to 3-4-1(1-0-0), while the Hoyas fall to 3-6-0 (0-1-0).

Kristina Francois (Springfield, Va./Paul VI) drove the ball down the field and passed it to Schulte who booted the ball into the left side of the net to score the game winning goal in the 81st minute of play.  This was Francois second assist of the season.

The Panthers were first on the scoreboard at the 23:47 mark on a goal by Cara Senger (Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic).   With the Panther offense poised at the front of the net, Erin McFarling (Atlanta, Ga./The Paideia School) booted a high shot from the left side of the net. The shot was deflected by the Hoyas goalkeeper Louisa Butler, who attempted to swat the ball to a Hoya defender when the ball bounced off of the crossbar and was tapped in by Senger.  McFarling was credited with the assist.

The Hoyas tied the score in the 52nd minute when Shara McNeill stole the ball from a Panther defender and passed it to Jen Choiniere, who scored from the left side of the net.

The Panthers stingy defense held the Hoyas leading offensive weapon, Shara McNeill, to just one shot and one assist.   Goalkeeper Jamie Pelusi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) registered a season high eight saves on the day.

The Panthers are next in action Sunday at 7 p.m. when they visit cross-town rival Duquesne.
