PITTSBURGH –Following last weekend’s matches against Villanova and Georgetown, senior Jennifer Kritch was named to Soccer Buzz’s national Elite Team of the Week. The accolade marked the first time in school history that a Pitt player earned a spot on the honorary team that includes selections from throughout all of Division I. Kritch joins West Virginia’s Greer Barnes and Nicole Doran from St. John's as the Big East representatives on the prestigious 15-player squad.

Kritch recorded 198 minutes of playing time in her two starts last weekend and totaled seven shots and three shots on goal. Against Villanova on Oct. 17, the midfielder registered the first shots of the night as well as consecutive shots on goal in the beginning of the second half. On Oct. 19, Kritch capped a strong Senior Recognition Day performance with a goal against No. 19 ranked Georgetown. In the 30th minute, a through ball from Kat Weiler moved the ball into the Hoyas’ territory. After a Georgetown defender headed the ball toward the net, Kritch gained control and finished to deny Georgetown its ninth shutout of the season.

The goal was Kritch’s second this year and 13th in her four-year career. With the goal, she moved into sole possession of fourth place among school scoring leaders. Kritch also tied for third place on Pitt’s all-time career points list with 34.
