PITTSBURGH--The Pitt women's soccer team will travel to Piscataway, N.J., to face the Scarlet Knights of Rutgers in the first round of the Big East Tournament. Pitt will kick off at 7 p.m., at Yurcak Field on Thursday, October 27.

Pitt heads into the postseason with a record of 3-6-2 in the Big East and 4-10-3 overall. Rutgers ended the regular season with a record of 5-6 in the Big East and 9-9-1 overall.

The winner of the first-round match will advance to face Connecticut, Division A's top seed and the nation's seventh-ranked team. This match will be played in Storrs, Conn., at 1 p.m., on Sunday, October 30.

Pitt's appearance in the 2005 conference championship marks the second in school history. The Panthers are led by goalkeeper Jamie Pelusi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Hampton) and Aimee Romasco (Moon Township, Pa./George Mason). Both captains have started all 17 games of the season for Pitt. Pelusi has recorded 116 saves on the season and is second in the Big East with 82 saves in conference play. Corina Sebesta (Catasauqua, Pa./Catasauqua High School) leads the Panthers with six points and three goals on the season.
