Carroll Named NSCAA All-Region

Dec. 9, 2009

PITTSBURGH–Junior Liz Carroll added another post-season honor to her list of accomplishments, as she was named to the 2009 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Northeast Region Third Team.

A native of Alexandria, Va., Carroll also earned All-Big East Third Team honors and was one of four Pitt players to earn All-Big East Honors in the same season, a program record.

This season, Carroll was one of six Panthers to start all 18 games, and finished second on the squad in points (six), tied for the team lead in assists (four) and added a goal from her midfield position. Carroll’s goal against DePaul was a free-kick taken five yards outside the penalty box that got past both the Blue Demon’s wall and a diving goalkeeper.

Also a Big East Academic All-Star, Carroll’s career numbers include 46 starts, 57 shots, 22 points, eight goals and six assists.
