Panthers Drop Doubleheader to Seton Hall

PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh Panthers women's softball team dropped a doubleheader to visiting Seton Hall today at Frick Field in a Big East Conference matchup. The Pirates took game one, 6-2, and went on to win a 7-0 decision in the second game. The Panthers opened the scoring in game one when Jackie Haar's (Naples, Fla./Lely) RBI double scored second baseman Clare McCann (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) in the bottom of the first. Haar added another run when she crossed the plate on first baseman Katie Mitchell's (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) RBI single. Seton Hall knotted the score at two runs apiece after the fifth inning. The Pirates went on a late seventh inning rally to post four runs off two hits and two errors to earn the victory. The Pirates continued their momentum to take the shutout victory in the second game. After taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning, Seton Hall posted a five-run seventh inning to seal the win. The Panthers return to action Sunday, May 2, when they host St. John's in their final Big East Conference games of the season at Frick Field. Game time is set for noon.
