PROVIDENCE, R.I – For her efforts in leading the Pitt softball team to a 4-1 weekend, senior catcher Holly Stevens has been named to the Big East Weekly Honor, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Stevens batted .400 at the plate (6-for-15) with two homers and five RBI at the Holiday Inn Hilltopper Classic hosted by Western Kentucky. She also tallied six walks, five runs, three doubles and a stolen base en route to a .571 on base percentage. Stevens was named to the All-Tournament Team along with teammates Savannah King and Ashlee Sills.
Stevens blasted two solo home runs in a 4-3 victory against Western Michigan, and in the process, reached to 30 HR and 100 career RBI plateau. She is the school record holder for home runs and is currently third in RBI with 104. She needs 17 more runs batted in to be Pitt’s all-time leader in that category.
The Panthers (5-5) head to the ESPN Citrus Classic this weekend in Orlando, Fla. Pitt will square off with James Madison, No. 12 Louisiana-Lafayette, LIU Brooklyn, Fordham and Fairfield. The Saturday afternoon game with Fordham can be watched live on ESPN3 at 5:45 p.m. EST.
