PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh softball team is set to host the Virginia Cavaliers this weekend for three games beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m., while Sunday’s finale is scheduled for Noon.
Pitt enters the contest at 8-14 overall and is still in search of its first conference victory of the season as the Panthers sit at 0-5 in league play. Virginia enters the weekend at 4-24 overall and 1-10 in ACC play.
Maggie Sevilla continues to produce at the plate for the Panthers. The Pitt second baseman went yard for her team-best fourth homer in Pitt’s last game out against Youngstown State. She also has a team-high 14 RBI. In five ACC games this season, Sevilla is batting .462.
After this weekend series, Pitt will entertain Robert Morris on Tuesday afternoon at Vartabedian Field before beginning a stretch of 13 straight league games. After RMU, Pitt will play at Boston College, at Virginia Tech, home for Syracuse, Florida State and Georgia Tech, and then at Maryland. A doubleheader at Penn State is also included in that stretch which will be played on April 30.
