CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Winners of four of its last five contests, the University of Pittsburgh softball embarks on its second ACC road series this weekend when the Panthers take on Boston College in Chestnut Hill. Saturday’s doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. while the series final on Sunday will take place at Noon.
Reigning ACC Player of the Week Maggie Sevilla will lead the charge into the three game series. Sevilla has compiled four home runs, 12 RBI and has scored 12 runs in her last five games. She is leading the ACC in batting average during league action at .542 and has raised her overall average to .308 for the season. She also owns a team-high seven round-trippers.
Carly Thea is also having an impressive season for the Panthers. Thea has moved from centerfield to first base just recently and has continued to produce at the plate as she owns a team-best .361 batting average. In the double dip against Robert Morris, Thea was 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.
The Panthers will look for their second consecutive ACC series sweep against the Eagles, and if they were to complete it, they would be the third straight conference team to sweep Boston College. The Eagles have currently lost five of six and have been swept by Florida State and Virginia Tech in their last six ACC contests.
