PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Tori Nirschl has been named to the Big East Weekly Honor for leading the Pitt offense this past weekend at Seton Hall, as announced by league officials on Monday afternoon.
The Carlsbad, Calif. native was 5-for-11 at the plate with two home runs, five RBI, five runs scored and three doubles. Nirschl had an on-base percentage of .500 and a slugging percentage of 1.273.
In the opening contest of the three-game series, Nirschl’s solo home run in the top of the third inning proved to be the game-winner as the Panthers defeated Seton Hall 1-0. The lefty is leading the team with 10 round-trippers, which ranks her third in the Big East.
Nirschl is having a standout campaign for the Panthers as she leads the team in at bats (121), batting average (.322), hits (39), runs (30), triples (3), home runs (10) and walks (18). This is her second time earning Big East Weekly Honor Roll this season.
The Panthers are back in action Wednesday afternoon with a doubleheader at No. 11/10 Louisville, and will then return home for a three-game series with Notre Dame.
