PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh head softball coach Holly Aprile has announced the addition of three more student-athletes to join the Panthers for the fall of 2013.
Katherine Kramer (The Dalles, Ore.), Kaitlin Manuel (San Diego Calif.) and Alexa Ricketts (Naperville, Ill.) will join the Panthers as freshmen in August, along with Jenna Lieber (Yorba Linda, Calif.) who committed in the fall of 2012.
Kramer, a catcher and third baseman, is a three-time all-league performer and a two-time all state honoree at The Dalles Wahtonka High School. Karmer plays her summer ball for the Northwest Bullets under the direction of Tony Campos and Dennis Muir.
Manuel was a 2011 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American Scholar-Athlete, and has just been recently named the 2013 Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year for her high school Del Norte. An outfielder and first baseman, Manuel plays her club ball for The Next Level which is coached by Jerry Delameter and is the same club of current Pitt Panther Maggie Sevilla.
A utility player, Ricketts is a four letter winner for Naperville North High School. She led her summer league team, the Wheatland Spikes, in on base percentage, Slugging percentage, batting average and stolen bases for the past three seasons and guided them to a 5th place finish at the USSSA World Series. Ricketts will be a third generation Panther.
“We have some very talented players coming in next season,” head coach Holly Aprile. “It is a very versatile group and they will be a great fit for our team. I am excited to see what they can do over their next four years.”
