LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Pittsburgh softball team had seven players land on the 2012-13 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I Scholar-Athlete List, annually presented to softball players who hold a GPA of 3.5 or better during that specific academic year.
Representing Pittsburgh on the list of NFCA Scholar-Athletes are Kaila Balatgek (Jr. – Reading, Pa.), Theresa Clancy (So. – Avon, N.Y.), Morgan Choe (So. – Kirtland, Ohio), Savannah King (Jr. – Orange County, Calif.), Alexa Larkin (Jr. – Greensburg, Pa.), Carmelena Moffa (So. – Greensburg, Pa.) and Lauren Vinson (Sr. – Prince George, Va.).
The NFCA honored over 4,000 student-athletes from all division, including Divisions I, II & III, along with NAIA, Junior College, and high school (both weighted and non-weighted).
As a team, the Panthers had the 53rd best GPA amongst Division I institutions during the 2012-13 school year. Collectively, Pitt carried a 3.305 team GPA.
