PITTSBURGH - Head softball coach Holly Aprile has announced the addition of Jenna Lieber to the 2013-14 Pitt softball team. Lieber signed her National Letter of Intent today.
Hailing from Yorba Linda, Calif., Lieber is a four-year varsity starter at El Dorado High School where she serves as pitcher.
Lieber was part of the 2009 Firecrackers State Championship team who also had a 3rd place finish at Nationals.
"Although we are only adding one student-athlete to our 2013 class today, we are extremely excited about the impact that Jenna will have on the future of Pitt Panther Softball," Aprile said. "Jenna is a fiery competitor that brings a great deal of passion and energy to all of her pursuits. Her competitive drive and determination set her apart from the crowd. We expect her to contribute immediately both on the mound and at the plate."
While not on the field, Lieber volunteers at the Red Cross and also participates in the German Club at her high school. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) as well.
Lieber intends to study Political Science and History during her time at the University of Pittsburgh.
The Panthers will start their spring season on Feb. 15, 2013 against Stephen F. Austin in College Station, Texas during the Texas A&M Tournament.
