PITTSBURGH-In a Big East dual meet, host Virginia Tech defeated the Panthers' women's swimming and diving team, 160-83, on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers (3-6, 2-4 Big East) managed just three wins in 13 events, including both diving events.

Senior Moreen O'Brien (Springfield, Ill./Springfield) won the 3-meter competition with 285.6 points and sophomore Jen O'Brien (Verona, Pa./Penn Hills) was first on the 1-meter board with 310.42 points.

The only other victory for Pittsburgh came in the 1000 freestyle as junior Emily Colley (Pace, Fla./Pace) set a Virginia Tech pool record with a time of 10:12.79 in gaining the Panthers nine points.

The Hokies, now 9-1 for the 2001-02 season, were led by junior Jill Turner, who was part of the first-place 400 freestyle relay team and won individual events in the 50 and 100 freestyle. Erin Milfeit was also a part of the freestyle relay winners as well as the first-place finisher in the 200 and 500 freestyle events.

Pittsburgh travels to Charlottesville, Va., to close out the dual meet season against the nationally ranked Cavaliers of Virginia on Sunday afternoon.
