A three-time MVP and captain of the women's tennis team, Kristy Borza enters her first year as an assistant coach with the Panthers.
Borza currently holds the all-time school records in single-season singles wins (28), career singles wins (91), career doubles wins (85) and combined wins (176). She also ranks second in most doubles wins in a season (23).
Borza became the fastest player in Panther history to record 100 career victories after competing in just 137 career matches. As a junior, she joined the 100-Victory Club on September 14, 2008 after she defeated Denise Liebschner of Seton Hall (6-1, 6-0) en route to her second Women's Eastern Collegiate Championship. Borza is also the first-ever Panther to achieve an ITA singles ranking and finished her junior year ranked #26 in the ITA.
Alongside then-double teammate Leah Friedman, Borza obtained the first-ever ITA East region doubles ranking (No. 13) in her freshman year. That was the lone ranking for any Big East school in that top-14 poll.
Off the court, Borza earned the 2008-09 Big East/Aeropostale Institutional Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award. Additionally, as a three-time member of the Big East Academic All-Star Team and four-time Dean's List honoree. She was named Pitt's 2009 Blue-Gold Award recipient and has her name etched on the University of Pittsburgh Varsity Walk.
