PITTSBURGH--In their first-ever meeting, the Pitt women's tennis team defeated George Mason, 7-0, for its first sweep of the season at Club 4 Life on Saturday evening. The Panthers improved to 2-3 with the win.

In the match, senior Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and junior Kristy Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) each garnered victories in both singles and doubles. The wins put them both at 117 career victories, tying them for fourth place on the all-time career wins list.

Additionally, senior Leah Friedman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) earned her 97th-career win during the match, leaving her just three wins shy of breaking into the 100-victory club.
