PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Taylor Washington and Jocelyn Lu won in first doubles, and Amanda Wickman won in fourth singles, but the University of Pittsburgh women’s tennis team (4-6) dropped a 6-1 decision at home to Cornell (6-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center.
Washington and Lu improved their doubles record to 4-6 overall with an 8-6 victory over the Big Red duo of O’Neil/Frazier in first doubles. Cornell however, was victorious on courts two and three and took a 1-0 advantage heading into singles.
Amanda Wickman won her third-consecutive singles match and improved her overall record to a team-best 9-1 mark with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Laila Judeh in fourth singles. She was the only Panther to record a victory in singles against Cornell.
Pitt is back in action tomorrow afternoon as the Panthers look to even their Big East record to 2-2 when they host Rutgers (6-2, 3-0). First serve is set for 2 p.m.
