ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y.--Junior Kristy Borza broke the all-time careers wins record, as the University of Pittsburgh swept St. Bonaventure, 7-0. The Panthers improved to 5-6 in the victory and are now 12-5 in the Pitt-SBU series.

Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) earned the win in both singles and doubles to re-write the career wins record at 127, eclipsing Annie Davies' 2006 mark of 126.

"What a tremendous accomplishment, because Kristy has a lot of tennis left," Head Coach George Dieffenbach said. "She is the youngest player to even record 100 wins and she is still improving. She is a team leader and has played every match as the team's No. 1."

On the year, Borza is 21-8 in singles and 13-5 in doubles. Her career numbers include 73 singles victories, which is first all-time and 54 wins in doubles action. She is just two wins shy of tying Dana Jafarian's fifth-best mark on the all-time career doubles wins list.

Additionally, seniors Carlie Smith (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and Leah Friedman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) won their matches and moved up the career wins list. Smith is just two wins shy of tying the third-best mark on the career list, while Friedman is one win shy of tying the eighth-best mark.

In singles action Smith is second overall with 71 wins, while Friedman is fourth in career doubles wins.

The Panthers face Syracuse on Sunday.
