HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Taylor Washington defeated Dominika Zaprazna in first singles, but that would be the only win for the Panthers on the afternoon as Pitt’s four match win streak was snapped at the hands of Marshall University (9-9) by the score of 6-1.
Washington is now 9-6 overall in singles and is 8-6 from the No. 1 position. She topped Marshall’s No. 1 in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.
Besides Amanda Wickman in fourth singles, the Herd won every position in straight sets. Wickman dropped the first set to Kai Broomfield 6-1, and then won the second set by the same score. In the third set tie-break, Broomfield came out victorious 10-8.
The Panthers are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they face their first nationally-ranked opponent of the season in No. 38 VCU (14-4).
