HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The University of Pittsburgh tennis team (8-8) lost to No. 38 VCU by a score of 7-0 in its first match against a nationally-ranked opponent this season on Saturday afternoon at the Brian David Foxx Tennis Courts on the campus of Marshall University.

The Panthers hung tough with the Rams in doubles action, despite VCU winning all three matches. In No. 1 doubles, Taylor Washington and Jocelyn Lu lost a heartbreaker to Yakauleva/Barscheuskaya 8-7.

In the two most competitive singles match of the afternoon, Jocelyn Lu was defeated by Yukako Noi in second singles, 6-4, 6-3, while Amanda Wickman was unable to overcome Olga Terteac on court four as she was defeated 6-1, 7-5.

The Panthers are back in action with its cross town rival Duquesne this Wednesday, April 3rd at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
