Pitt Falls 4-0 to St. John's in Consolation Round at Big East Championship

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The University of Pittsburgh women's tennis team lost 4-0 today against St. John's at the Courtney Tennis Center in the consolation round of the Big East Championship Tournament here at Notre Dame.

The Panthers faced the Red Storm for the second time in the last week having downed St. Johns 4-3 April 17. This time the result went the Red Storm's way as they swept the Panthers in both singles and doubles play.

The team fought hard against a good St John's team as they ended the season with a tough loss.

"We did our best today," said head coach George Dieffenbach. "We battled out there against a tough St. John's team."

Pitt's season came to an end with a winning 10-9 record. The Panthers finished 5-5 in Big East conference action in the regular season and two milestones reached this year; Elizabeth Adams hitting her 100th career win and Dieffenbach earning is 300th career win as the head coach of the women's team.
