PITTSBURGH - Pitt's tennis team wrapped up play today in the USTA Billie Jean National Tennis Center Collegiate Invite with two finals titles on the day.
"We wanted to close the tournament by winning both of the doubles finals, but unfortunately Molly and Lolade came up a little short," said head coach Alex Santos. "I feel that Molly has being doing a great job of helping and guiding Lolade in playing better doubles. She has been showing a great example of what an upperclassmen should be. Lolade's improvement on the doubles court has been substantial. She has gone from feeling a little uncomfortable to a point where she is now enjoying the game and realizing what she is able to do and accomplish.
"Amanda and Audrey Ann played clean doubles and didn't allow any breaks on their serve," continued Santos. "With that they placed a lot of pressure on their opponent's service games and were able to develop a more aggressive style at the net."
"Kimmy took the singles title with merits in a fair competitive match against Jocelyn," said Santos. "We have one last competition this fall and we are extremely excited to prepare in the best possible manner during the upcoming week."
The Panthers will round out their fall season with a trip to Charlottesville, Va., for the ITA Atlantic Regional, Oct. 18-22.
