The Pitt tennis team will open up its 2014 spring season on Saturday afternoon against Morehead State at 2 p.m.
Pitt (0-0) is led by first-year head coach Alex Santos, who will lead the Panthers in their first year in the ultra-competitive Atlantic Coast Conference. The Eagles of Morehead State are led by head coach Kevin Fulton and sit at 1-2 in the young season with a win over North Carolina Central and losses to Liberty and Marshall.
“We practice to compete and therefore everyone is extremely excited to get on the court to face Morehead State,” said Santos. “Playing against us in their fourth match of the season, Morehead State has shown their quality and potential as a team in their first few matches. We know that we will be challenged, that we will face adversity, and that we will need to play great tennis to have a chance to win. Our preparation over the past four weeks has put us in a place where we can and should feel confident in our ability to succeed, but we still understand that anything can happen on match day. We’re looking forward to setting a strong base for Pitt Tennis!”
Pitt plays all of its home matches at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness facility in Harmarville, Pa.
