The Pitt women’s tennis team is back in action on Friday afternoon as they host the Youngstown State Penguins at 2 p.m. at Alpha Tennis and Fitness.
"It's a great opportunity to be able to compete against good programs on a weekly basis,” said head coach Alex Santos. “Our success will be defined by our ability to improve with each match. Before the season started we said that we would take one match at a time and work to build a culture of consistently competing at a high level."
Youngstown State enters the match with a 1-2 record on the spring falling on the road to Bowling Green (1-6) and Ohio State (0-7), but is coming off a 7-0 sweep over Dayton on Feb. 2.
Pitt (1-0) is coming off a route of its own with a 7-0 win over Morehead State on Feb. 1. The impressive win marked Santos’ first career victory.
Doors open at 1 p.m. on Friday for the match and all Pitt home tennis matches are free and open to the public at Alpha Tennis and Fitness.
