PITTSBURGH--The University of Pittsburgh women's tennis team is set to open the 2008 spring season on Saturday, Feb. 9, against Georgetown. The match is slated for 5 p.m. at Club 4 Life in Monroeville, as the Panthers look to improve upon their current 6-0 winning streak in season-openers.

After a record-breaking fall season, junior Kristy Borza (Beaver, Pa./Beaver Area) garnered the program's first-ever ITA Region 1 singles ranking. In addition, Borza became the Panther's fastest player to earn their 100th career-victory. She now looks to surpass the all-time win record of 126.

Freshman Elizabeth Adams (Reading, Pa./Wilson) also looks to improve upon a successful fall campaign, which resulted in a trip to the ITA Championships in doubles competition with Borza. The duo will combine as the Panthers No. 1 doubles team, while Borza returns as the team's No. 1 singles player and Adams will debut at No. 3.

The Panthers hold a 3-1 advantage in the past four matchups against the Hoyas. When the two teams met last season, Pitt earned five singles victories en route to a 6-1 win.
