The Pitt tennis team will host Atlantic Coast Conference foe Maryland on Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Alpha Tennis and Fitness.
The Panthers sit at 3-2 overall and 0-2 in ACC action, while the Terrapins are 4-3 overall and 0-2 in the ACC.
"The great thing about being part of the ACC is having the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in college tennis every week," said head coach Alex Santos. "This past weekend we were very competitive against two great programs in Virginia Tech and Wake Forest and we were able to elevate our tennis with each match.
"As a team we understand that in order to be successful everybody needs to believe and be accountable. Tomorrow I would like to see incredible energy going into doubles to start and for us to carry over that momentum into singles."
Pitt is coming off a hard-fought 4-3 loss on the road at No. 50 Wake Forest and a 7-0 loss at No. 47 Virginia Tech. Maryland fell 6-0 to No. 17 Miami and 7-0 at Florida State last weekend. Both schools will be fighting to rebound and capture their first conference win of the season on Friday.
All Pitt home matches are played at Alpha Tennis & Fitness and are free to the public.
