Pittsburgh – The University of Pittsburgh’s women’s tennis team (4-5, 1-2) will conclude a four match home-stand when the Panthers play host to Cornell (5-0) and Rutgers (6-2, 3-0) this Saturday and Sunday at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center.
The match with the Big Red is scheduled to start on Saturday at 10 a.m., while the contest with Rutgers is scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m.
The Panthers look to get back in the win column after suffering a 4-3 loss last weekend to California (Pa.). Sophomore Amanda Wickman won both her singles and doubles matches to improve her overall spring record to 15-3. Kimmy Borza also won both of her matches against the Vulcans and is now 12-2 overall.
The Big Red brings an undefeated record into Pittsburgh. Cornell boasts four unbeaten singles players and 3 unbeaten doubles pairings. Rutgers, fresh from a road victory over Connecticut this past Tuesday, comes to the Alpha Tennis Center with a perfect conference record of 3-0. Rutgers defeated the Panthers 6-1 in Piscataway last season.
After this weekend, Pitt heads to Savannah, Ga., for a contest with Savannah St. on March 13. The Panthers will then travel to Hilton Head, S.C. the following day for a neutral site game with Coastal Carolina.
