PITTSBURGH – In its final regular-season match against a Big East opponent, the University of Pittsburgh tennis team (8-9) hosts the University of Cincinnati on Sunday morning at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
The Panthers will recognize their two graduating seniors on Sunday, Gabrielle Catanzariti and Karma Parbhu. Catanzariti has compiled 83 victories in her four years, including 37 wins in singles and 46 in doubles. She had a double record of 8-1 this season before being sidelined by a wrist injury. Parbhu collected 62 wins for the Panthers, earning 32 in singles and 30 in doubles.
The Panthers look to regain their form which saw them win four matches in a row. Since that stretch, Pitt has endured three straight losses to Marshall, No. 38 VCU and Duquesne. Following this match with the Bearcats, the Panthers will play Carnegie Mellon in their regular-season finale before heading to the Big East Tournament in Tampa.
Amanda Wickman and Kimmy Borza continue to have standout seasons for the Panthers. Both Wickman and Borza won singles and doubles contests against Duquesne. Wickman owns a 14-3 singles record in the spring and is 22-5 overall dating back to the fall. Borza has moved her singles record to 9-4 in spring competition, and is 12-5 in doubles with two different teammates.
Pitt’s regular-season finale will be at Carnegie Mellon next Wednesday and will be held at their outdoor facilities. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
