"It's the first tournament of the season and everybody is excited to compete," said first year head coach Alex Santos. "The girls have done a great job of putting themselves in the best possible position to compete at their highest level. We are looking forward to seeing where we stand in regards to our strengths, and what we need to do to keep improving. Our priority will be to make sure our mindset and level of competitiveness as a team shows what we represent as a program."
Along with Pitt, participating teams at the three-day event will be Navy, Air Force, Fairleigh Dickinson, George Mason, Loyola, Monmouth, St. Bonaventure and Towson. Three facilities will be utilized including The Tose Family Tennis Center, Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium and Brigade Sports Complex.
The Panthers return seven from last year's squad and will travel veterans Kimmy Borza (senior), Jocelyn Lu (senior), Taylor Washington (senior), Amanda Wickman (junior) and Molly Wickman (junior). Freshmen Audrey Ann Blakely and Lolade Ogungbesan will compete for the first time representing Pitt.
