PITTSBURGH – Head tennis coach George Dieffenbach has announced the addition of the No. 1 Pennsylvania recruit for 2013, as Audrey Ann Blakely has signed her National Letter of Intent to play at Pitt.
Hailing from Reading, Pa., Blakely is the reigning PIAA State Champion for singles, and was the runner-up in 2011. She also helped her team capture back-to-back state runner-up finishes in 2010-11 playing No. 1 singles for Wyomissing Area High School.
Tennisrecruiting.net has Blakely ranked as the top player in the state of Pennsylvania and as the No. 118 recruit overall. Blakely comes from a tennis family as her oldest sister Grace played collegiately at South Carolina, while her other sister, Martha, played for Virginia Tech.
In the classroom, Blakely fits the Pittsburgh mold as she is a 2012 National AP Scholar. She was awarded the National Merit Commended Scholar in 2012, and the Principal’s 4.0 GPA Award as a junior. Blakely plans to major in math, engineering or science at Pittsburgh.
