In his third season with the Panthers, Chip Brundage is establishing the Panthers throwing program as a contender in the ACC and on the National level.

Brundage has coached junior Andrew Wells to three school records, including the weight (19.20m), hammer (56.32m) and discus throw (54.60). Wells set the record in the hammer throw at the 2013 Big East Outdoor Championships, and most recently he broke the school record in the weight throw at the 2013 Indoor Golden Flash Gala.

Brundage guided 2013 NCAA Outdoor National Championship Qualifer Eliabeth Kline to a personal-best throw at NCAA's in the javelin (30.63m), while participating in the heptathlon. Also, under Brundage's guidance, Taylor Slaney was able to become one of the Panthers best javelin throwers. In the 2013 Outdoor ECAC and IC4A Championships, Slaney made a career-best throw of 47.35-meters.

On the men's side, Brundage coached Brett Millar to an impressive winning streak in the 2013 outdoor season, Millar won four-consecutive meets in the javelin throw at the Charlotte 49er, Raleigh Relays, Aggie Invitational and Larry Ellis Invite. Millar also achieved his personal best throw in the javelin of 69-meters (226 feet) at the 2013 Outdoor Penn Relays.

Brundage's list of accomplishments continues in the 2012 Big East Indoor Championships with former Panthers Dan Kwiatkowski, who placed fifth in the shot put, and Kurt Barnhart who finished ninth in the weight throw.

Brundage came to Pitt for the 2011-12 season from Troy University where he served as the throws coach for three seasons and accumulated an extensive list of accomplishments.

Under Brundage, nine school records fell, his athletes won three individual Sun Belt titles and seven qualified for the NCAA Regional Championship. He also coached Tiphanie Baker to the eighth farthest throw in the country in women's discus while coaching the 10thfarthest throw in the men's javelin, and guided Martins Pilvads to a personal record throw 75.54-meters in the javelin.

Before coaching at Troy, Brundage worked at Drake University as the Assistant Track and Field Coach and Recruiting Coordinator from 2005-08. At Drake he guided two conference scorers to the Missouri Valley Conference Championships, signed the top recruiting class in school history and helped the Bulldogs earn six Team Academic All-American honors.

A 1999 graduate from Simpson College, Brundage holds a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics education and coaching. He was an All-American during his sophomore and junior seasons and was named the team MVP three times. He also played football and was a First Team All-Conference selection at defensive end as a junior.
