CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Several members of the University of Pittsburgh women’s track and field team qualified for the finals of the 49er Classic at Irwin Belk Track following a successful first day of competition.
Two Panthers advanced to the finals of the 100M dash. Sophomore Jordan Hoyt (11.82) and junior Ashley Woodford (11.94) finished second and sixth, respectively. They will race in the finals on Saturday at 1:10 p.m.
In the 400M hurdles, junior Elizabeth Kline finished fourth (1:03.05), while classmate Amanda Kuhl finished sixth (1:04.63) in the event. Both will run in the finals at 2:45 p.m.
Later, Kline also won her heat in the prelims of the 110M hurdles, placing fifth overall (14.39). She advanced to the finals set for 12:35 p.m.
The Panthers placed among the top 15 in the hammer throw, including senior Robin Gilmore (45.35M), junior Jessica Catalano (43.91M) and freshman Brittany Lightfoot (42.63M).
