PRINCETON, N.J.-Several Panthers qualified for the semifinals and finals, as the University of Pittsburgh women's track and field team competed in the first full day of the 2010 ECAC Championships, held at Weaver Stadium on Princeton's campus.
Freshman Rachael McIntosh claimed a third-place finish in the heptathlon with 4,830 points. In the individual events, McIntosh was second in the 800M run (2:24.77) and third in the 200M dash (26.13).
Winning her heat of the prelims, junior Da'Lynn Mills placed third overall in the 100M dash prelims. She qualified for the semifinals with a time of 11.86.
Also qualifying for the semifinals in the same event, sophomore Cambrya Jones improved upon her prelims finish with a time of 11.99. She and Mills will compete in the finals on Sunday.
Mills later placed second in the prelims of the 200M dash after winning her heat, again. She and Jones qualified for the finals of the 200M dash with times of 23.76 and 24.01, respectively.
Earlier in the day, freshman Jonnique Lawrence just missed qualifying for the finals of the 400M dash with a 10th place performance.
In the 400M hurdles, senior Brittany Broyles earned the fourth seed in the finals with a time of 1:00.20, after winning the fourth heat of the prelims.
Then, freshman Brittany Carroll qualified for the semifinals of the 100M hurdles and finished 13th overall.
Also competing in individual events today, Woodard finished at 12.30 in the 100M dash, while classmate Elizabeth Kline turned in a 1:02.21 finish in the 400M hurdles.
In the discus throw, junior Alexis Wilder placed in the top 15, while juniors Sarah Anderson and Anita James recorded a top 20 finish in the hammer throw and long jump, respectively.
Action resumes at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 16, with the shot put.
