KENT, Ohio—Sophomore Cambrya Jones and freshman Rachel McIntosh record two ECAC qualifying marks, a piece, while junior Da’Lynn Mills produced one ECAC qualifying standard, as the University of Pittsburgh’s women’s track and field team opened its indoor season at the Kent State Golden Flash Gala.
“Overall I thought we competed extremely well for the first meet of the season.” Head coach Alonzo Webb said. “The team trained hard during the preseason and had been looking forward to finally having the opportunity to compete. Now it’s up to them to continue to train during the holiday break.”
Jones (Pittsburgh, PA/Woodland Hills) qualified for the ECAC and Big East Indoor Championships in the 60M and 200M sprints. Joining Jones at the meets will be McIntosh (Bridgewater, Canada/Parkview), who qualified to compete in the pentathlon and high jump.
Mills (Pittsburgh, PA/ Seneca Valley) achieved an ECAC standard in the 60M sprint, and qualified for the Big East meet in the 200M dash.
Additionally, freshmen Brittany Carroll (Charlotte, NC/Harding Univ. H.S.), Elizabeth Kline (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) and Jonnique Lawrence (Cincinnati, OH/Cincinnati Withrow) qualified for the ECAC Championships, and Ashley Woodford (Long Beach, CA/Long Beach Poly) attained a Big East qualifying performance.
“I thought our freshmen women were exceptional in their first collegiate competition,” Webb added.
