AKRON, Ohio – Freshman hurdler Taranisha Taylor was the second collegiate finisher and placed fourth overall in the 60 meter hurdles at the Akron Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Taylor ran a 8.54 in the prelims and a 8.51 in the finals to place fourth overall. She was behind two unattached runners and Layne Baggett of Miami (OH) in the finals. Her time of 8.51 was a career-best.
Also having impressive performances were Rachel Brown and Morgan Perry in the 3,000 meter run. Brown was third overall with a time of 10:10.33, while Perry was fourth overall in a time of 10:18.08. Both times were personal-records, while Brown’s time was the fastest 3,000 meter time of the season for Pitt.
In the throws, Brittany Lightfoot was first in her division and fifth overall in the shot put with a distance of 13.41 meters. Julia Koloski and Ashley Corum were 1-2 in the Blue division in the triple jump with distances of 5.54 and 5.52 meters, respectively.
At the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York City, Brycen Spratlin was third overall in the 400 meter dash with a time of 47.05.
The Panthers are back in action next weekend at the Spire Collegiate Invitational, which is the venue of the Big East Championship Meet in two weeks. The meet is located in Geneva, Ohio.
