PITTSBURGH -

Members of the University of Pittsburgh women's track and field team competed at the Big East Indoor Championships this weekend at the New Balance Track and Field Center at the Armory in New York City. The Panthers came away with multiple All-Big East honorees, including three event titles.

Shantea Calhoun (New Haven, Conn./Wilbur Cross) claimed two event titles on the day, including the 60- and 200-meter crowns, and was honored as one of two Track Performers of the Year by the conference. She put up a time of 7.54 to take the 60-meters title after sneaking in to the finals with the ninth-best time in the prelims.

In the 200, Calhoun was ranked third heading into the finals, just ahead of her sister Shanea, who occupied the fourth spot. Running in the second finals heat, Shantea toasted the competition, posting an NCAA provisional time of 23.85 en route to another Big East Crown, her fourth as a Panther. Shanea took third in the event with a 24.09, earning her seventh career all-conference nod.

Janessa Murphy (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) entered the meet as a two-time defending champion in the event and the conference's top long jumper on the season with a distance of 6.21 meters. She continued her dominance in the event by posting another NCAA provisional distance of 6.10 meters in the finals to claim back-to-back indoor titles and a fifth All-Big East honor.

Sophomore Kaetlyn Brown (Pittsburgh, Pa./Schenley) also garnered her first all-conference honor when she grabbed a third-place plaudit with a time of 55.68 in the 400-meter dash.

The 1600-meter relay also impressed as they flew around the track in 3:41.46 to grab a second-place honor that helped Pitt's cause.
