Fred Hardy Invitational Schedule

PITTSBURGH-The University of Pittsburgh women’s track and field team will send student-athletes to two different meets this weekend at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, and the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Va.

The Texas Relays run from Wednesday through Saturday (March 28-31) with the Panthers beginning competition on Thursday. The Fred Hardy Invitational will take place Friday and Saturday (March 30-31).

Pitt is coming off an impressive performance at the Early Bird Classic at California (Pa.) that saw the team turn in six first-place finishes in its second outdoor meet of the season.

Junior Elizabeth Kline finished first in the 100-meter hurdles (14.75) while sophomore Jordan Lee crossed the finish line first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.69.

Kline will compete in the Texas Relays while Lee will run at the Fred Hardy Invitational this weekend.

In the 100-meter dash, junior Jonnique Lawrence finished first (11.99) while also running on the 1,600-meter relay team with freshman Xauddina Whittington, junior Arielle Fonrose and senior Cambrya Jones en route to finishing first with a mark of 3:48.02. All four will run at the Texas Relays this weekend.



In the field events, freshman Haley Springman claimed first in the discus with a toss of 42.30 meters while senior Robin Gilmore won the hammer throw (43.73 meters). Springman and Gilmore will both throw at the Fred Hardy Invitational.

The Panthers will compete in both meets for the first time since 2009. Seniors Miya Johnson (2:20.97) and Susan Martinez (2:21.34) placed, fifth and sixth respectively in the 800-meter run when Pitt last competed in the Fred Hardy Invitational.

Jones was a member of the 400-meter relay team that claimed first place with a mark of 47.53 while senior Rachel Erny claimed sixth in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line in 18:40.77.
