Panthers in Action at the Prestigious Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Members of the University of Pittsburgh men’s and women’s track and field team are competing this weekend, April 25-27, at the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Fields.

Now in its 119th year of the event, the Penn Relays welcome the top high school, collegiate and international athletes in the world for the three day event. Last year’s attendance totaled 112,416 fans, making it the ninth straight year the meet had surpassed 100,000 spectators.

Highlighting the individual events for the Panthers will be Brett Millar as he looks to win his fifth consecutive meet in the javelin, and Taylor Slaney who will throw the javelin for the women.

Evann Thompson, Elizabeth Kline and Natalie Ryan are all entered in the 400 meter hurdles, while freshman Taranisha Taylor will run in the 100 meter hurdles.


 

 

The women’s team has relays entered in the 4x100, 4x200, and the 4x400, while the men are set to compete in the 4x200, 4x400, the Sprint Medley Relay and the Distance Medley Relay.

The Penn Relays will serve as the final tune-up before the Big East Outdoor Championship Meet which is set for next weekend in Piscataway, N.J.
